Biography

 

Keith Comley

MInstLM, Fellow ITOL

 

Keith Comley was born in Woking, England in 1961 and joined the British Army in 1977 at the age of 16. 

 

He has served worldwide in various places such as Northern Ireland, The Falklands, Cyprus and the Gulf to name a few.  He has had varied roles including: Section Commander, Health Centre Manager and as a Trainer and Course Coordinator at the Defence Medical Services Training Centre, designing, delivering, managing and assessing both management and medical courses.

 

In 1998 he achieved the AMSPAR Diploma in Practice Management.  During the next two years he passed the City and Guilds Further Adult Teachers Certificate and a Level 3 NVQ in Warehousing and Distributive Operations. In 2001 he retired from the British Army in the same year he completed the Chartered Institute of Personnel Developments Core Personal and Development Course (post graduate Level) and a NVQ Level 4 in Training and Development.

 

In the same month he was re-employed by the UK Ministry of Defence as the Vocational Qualification Officer at the Defence Medical Services Training Centre. Keith was responsible for the management of a City and Guilds, Institute of Leadership and Management and Edexcel Centres.  The qualifications offered covered three areas - Medical, Management and Learning and Development.

 

He represented his employers at national level negotiations with other government training agencies and specialised in vocational qualifications and work based training.  He was instrumental in the development of the Apprenticeship in Health Care (Medical Assistance). He is an avid supporter of vocational qualifications and work based training.

 

Keith has now moved to Dominica where he has taken his wide portfolio of experience and set up IDEA Services Inc.  IDEAS Services aim to promote and encourage recognised best practice and a professional business approach by organisations both in private and public sectors in Dominica and the rest of the Caribbean, IDEA Services aim to achieve this by providing customised learning and development programmes, consultancy services, business advisory service and human resources support.  Keith and IDEA Services are committed to best practice and becoming a force for change.

Keith is a Member and Founder Member of the Institute of Leadership and Management and a Fellow of the Institute of Training and Occupational Learning

Keith is also a volunteer with the Dominica Red Cross.

 

Keith is married to Julia and has two girls Amber (6 years) and Abigail (15 years) both schooled in Dominica
